One of the most anticipated press releases was that of the world’s largest social gaming company Zynga who released their Q2 earnings today. These figures are important not only for Zynga but the entire online gaming and gambling industry. With social gaming and free-to-play casino games being so popular, the performance of the largest social gaming player in the world is seen as a sign for what awaits the entire industry.

It remains to be seen what the  results will do to Zynga’s share price which is hovering about the $5 mark. It is important to keep in mind that the share price is still way down from their $10 IPO listing price back in December 2011.

Zynga has just released their financial results for the second quarter of 2012.

Firstly they reported a Q2 Revenue of over $332 million which is an increase of 19% year-over-year. Their Q2 Bookings were up 10% year-over-year to reach $302 million.

In a news conference CEO Mark Pincus pointed out some of the many impressive achievements by the world’s largest social gaming company. The launch of their Bubble Safari has been so successful that it now holds the number one spot on Facebook for arcade games. The Ville is now in second spot behind the ever popular Zynga Poker.

In terms of advertising Zynga reported over 170% revenue growth year-over-year. The amount of monthly active users (MAU) has reached an all-time record of 300 million.

In the highly competitive and important mobile sector, Zynga managed to increase their presence five-fold with over 33 million daily active users which gives Zynga the envious title of being the world’s largest mobile gaming network.

CEO Pincus summed up their performance,” We also faced new short-term challenges which led to a sequential decline in bookings. Despite this, we’re optimistic about the long-term growth prospects on mobile where we have a window of opportunity to drive the same kind of social gaming revolution that we enabled on the web.”

Other significant figures released were:

-Daily Active Users were up by 23% year-over-year and reached 59 million.
-Monthly Active Users were up by 34% year-over-year to reach 306 million.

Zynga in Q2 launched six new games which included Bubble Safari and Ruby Blast both of which fall under the arcade category. In the mobile platform Zynga launched 3 new titles which were Zynga Slots, Zombie Swipeout and Matching With Friends.

To top it off Zynga can now boast that they occupy 7 of the top 10 games on Facebook as of June 30, 2012 according to AppData.
